PTSD Awareness Month

During the month of June, we’d like to highlight and bring awareness to those suffering from
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While PTSD is often associated with veterans of war,
anyone can suffer its effects after a traumatic event. PTSD can manifest in a variety of ways
including flashbacks, trouble sleeping, heightened reactions, or general anxiety. One telltale sign
that someone is suffering from PTSD is when one of these symptoms goes on to impede their
everyday life. The good news is that PTSD is highly treatable and manageable with the proper
support.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) along with the
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) offer numerous resources to those suffering with
PTSD. Click here to check out a list of resources available for individuals with PTSD and family
and friends of those suffering.

As always, the Arizona Center for Marriage and Family Therapy is always here to support.
Please reach out to us via our website to set up an appointment to talk to one of our therapists
