Zach Dixson

Zach is a Licensed Associate Counselor in Mesa, Arizona. He has a Master’s degree in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from Idaho State University. Zach has received advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Trauma-focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and
Emotionally Focused Therapy.


Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling

Zach has a passion for helping couples and families become closer and stronger.  All couples have conflict. The difference between unhealthy relationships and those that last, depends on how they interact during these conflicts. Zach is trained to help couples identify their harmful communication patterns as well as help them learn healthier ones. Through engaging in counseling, couples can begin to repair and heal from hurtful experiences, learn about each other’s unmet needs, turn towards instead of away from each other, and work towards shared life dreams.


Individual Counseling

Beginning counseling can often feel very scary and uncomfortable. Zach understands this and is able to build a warm therapeutic relationship and help his clients feels safe and heard. Zach meets with adults and adolescents to address a variety of concerns. He uses Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy techniques that can help those he works with to more fully understand their challenges. He also collaborates with individuals to create a treatment plan that will assist them to set and achieve goals that will lead to a healthier and more satisfying life.


Adolescents and Parents

Zach’s fun and friendly personality can help adolescents who are hesitant about therapy, feel comfortable working on challenges in counseling. He understands how important it is to provide adolescent clients with a safe space where they can feel heard, as well as work collaboratively with concerned parents. Young people experience unique issues, whether they be in the home, at school or in other social settings. Zach can help adolescents work on a variety of goals relating to behavioral concerns, pornography issues, social skills, family and relationship challenges, depression, anxiety, and more.


Pornography

Unwanted pornography use is a major challenge and concern for many individuals. It can be incredibly discouraging to try to stop viewing pornography over and over again without success. The feelings of guilt and shame that are often associated with unwanted pornography use can be overwhelming and depressing. Zach understands these struggles and can help clients to develop skills and strategies that can provide hope. He uses interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as other cognitive and behavioral techniques.

Insurance and Scheduling

Zach accepts BCBS and Aetna insurance. For clients without insurance his fee is $115 for a 50-minute session.
