Working with Individuals
Being human isn’t easy. It can be uncomfortable, scary, beautiful, exciting, and completely bewildering. Seeking help for your humanness is brave. Therapy can provide a safe environment to challenge lifelong patterns, address old wounds and traumas, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. I believe it is courageous to seek therapy when something “feels off.”
My role in this process is to collaborate with you as we approach the discomfort, grief, or fear with curiosity and compassion. I will guide as well as challenge you in an effort to increase your knowledge of yourself and help you make meaningful changes in your life. I consider the influence of your culture, environment, and relationships to gain a better insight into your unique circumstances and help guide you in achieving a healthy, and harmonious life.
Adjusting to life transitions and managing stress can seem overwhelming at times. If you experience anxiety, depression, social isolation, hopelessness, other mental health symptoms, now is the time to take control of your life.
Working with Couples and Families
There are many reasons why you may find yourself feeling disconnected from your partner, your family, and your community, and feeling like you are not living your life as fully as you would like to. I believe that we, as humans, strive for a deeper connection to others, our surroundings, and to ourselves, which is why I believe that therapy can be used as a vessel to explore unfulfilled relationship needs and discover your authentic self. If you are in a relationship that is in distress, or even part of a family that is struggling to remain united, therapy can greatly improve your situation. I help couples and families become open, mutually attuned, and responsive to each other in order to re-establish their emotional connection. With this emotional connection restored, couples and families can begin to heal broken relationships, revitalize weak ones, and possibly rescue ones that have gone awry.
I’m an attachment-based therapist who believes that the most effective therapy offers a balance of non-judgmental support with concrete tools and direction that will help you live a more fulfilling life. I have a background serving families and couples dealing with issues related to communication, conflict, parenting, infidelity, sex, life crises, and other relationship difficulties. My approach is utilizing evidence-based models like Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and The Gottman Therapy Method for increased effectiveness.
