Bethany Gardner
Bethany’s focus for the therapy sessions is to help you understand your personal story and how it can help you build greater resilience and improve your overall quality of life. Healing occurs on multiple levels including physical, emotional, and spiritual. She aims to incorporate all three perspectives as in order to engage your thoughts, emotions, and body during the therapeutic process. This will help in the collaborative effort of achieving mutually agreed-upon goals and ensuring you feel equipped with the skills to maintain your progress after therapy.
Couples Therapy
It is not only the happy moments that make relationships endure, it is how the difficult times are faced and handled with love and care that truly defines the strength and longevity of a relationship. One of Bethany’s greatest joys is challenging her clients to break out of their comfort zones and change the unhealthy patterns in their relationships. She has helped many couples navigate the complexities of communication, trust, and intimacy and believes in being direct and honest while encouraging partners to be open and vulnerable with each other. Her specialties include working with couples dealing with communication issues, intimacy problems, and sexual issues. She also incorporates mindfulness and alternative therapies into her practice to help couples develop deeper connections and understanding.
Bethany loves working with all kinds of couples; cohabitating, engaged, non-traditional, content, struggling, co-parenting, or separating. Everyone has expectations of what their closest relationships should look or feel like. However, when there is a breakdown of trust, communication, or intimacy, it can feel like your relationship is in turmoil or like the love is lost. Therapy is the perfect place to work on repairing your relationship or understanding what your future partnership may look like. Together, Bethany can help you to improve connections by uncovering unhealthy patterns and expressing deep emotions while avoiding blame and shame, all to help you build a stronger and more resilient relationship!
Sex Therapy
Sex is a natural and essential part of human existence. It is a physical and emotional act that brings pleasure, intimacy, and connection. But despite its importance, sex, and sexuality are often shrouded in taboo and misinformation. When it comes to relationships, we often put a lot of pressure on ourselves and our partners to conform to societal norms and expectations. This can lead to sexual dysfunction and feelings of anxiety, guilt, and shame. It’s important to remember that sex and relationships are personal and unique to each individual. There is no one “right” way to have sex or be in a relationship and what works for one person may not work for another.
In sex therapy, individuals or couples can learn accurate information about sex and positive ways of communicating sexual needs. Bethany can be your guide as you learn to listen to your desires and respect those of others in a way that promotes a healthy expression of sexuality. She can help you to explore the patterns that have developed in your sexual repertoire, seek to understand your ideas about sexuality, and work to resolve sexual differences that may be interfering with your best sex life.
In her practice, Bethany works with a wide range of individuals and couples, from those experiencing sexual difficulties to those seeking to deepen their understanding of themselves and their desires. She has become particularly drawn to working with millennial clients, who may face unique challenges such as navigating hookup culture, gender identity, and non-traditional relationships as well as managing feelings of isolation and social media pressure.
Her therapy approach is holistic, non-judgmental, and collaborative. She enjoys helping her clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their desires, and their relationships while providing practical tools and techniques for improving communication, connection, intimacy, and sexual expression. She is passionate about destigmatizing sexuality and helping people realize their fullest sex lives. Bethany firmly believes that everyone deserves to have satisfying and fulfilling sexual experiences, and is committed to helping her clients achieve that goal.
