Bethany Blue

I am a therapist-in-training as I finish my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Arizona State University. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from ASU. I combine my passion for mental health care with my background in naturopathic medicine to understand my clients from a holistic perspective. I am dedicated to drawing on the most current research and evidence-based approaches to help my clients accomplish their treatment goals.

Therapeutic Approach

My focus for our therapy sessions is to help you identify your strengths and to build greater resilience to improve your overall quality of life. I believe healing occurs on multiple levels including physical, emotional, and spiritual. I incorporate all three perspectives as we work together on engaging your thoughts, emotions, and body during the therapeutic process. We will work collaboratively towards achieving mutually agreed-upon goals and equip you with the skills you need to maintain your progress after therapy.

Individual Therapy

Sometimes we get stuck in patterns of thinking that may lead to an increase in stress, frustration, anxiety, or even depression. When this happens, it can feel like most days of your personal or professional life are just a struggle. Managing or attempting to resolve these issues on your own may feel overwhelming. Once these patterns have been brought to light, we can begin to develop different coping skills and communication tools. One of my greatest joys is guiding my clients through this process of self-realization as they discover their many strengths and positive qualities. Therapy is not always an easy process, but I will guide you through as you work to go within, learn to connect with others, and create your ideal life.

Couples Therapy

I love working with all kinds of couples; cohabitating, engaged, happy, struggling, or separating. We all have expectations of what our closest relationships should look or feel like. For engaged couples, therapy can mean learning how to understand, relate, and truly communicate with each other. For couples who are happy, therapy can include deepening your relationship and maintaining the quality of your love. However, when there is a breakdown of trust, communication, or intimacy, it can feel like your relationship is in turmoil or like the love is lost. Couples therapy can be a place to work on repairing your relationship or understanding what your future partnership may look like. Together we can uncover unhealthy patterns and begin to change them. We can also work on understanding and expressing deep emotions while relieving blame and shame.

Family Therapy

Our family relationships are full of complexities, many levels of interactions, and a unique history. Families can develop patterns of communication and behavior that can influence every individual in the system. We also go through many stages and adjustments as families including marriage, blending families, separation, co-parenting, and loss. These periods of time can be especially challenging for the children or teens in the family. In family therapy, we can work to identify underlying causes of your problems or contentions that are disrupting the equilibrium in your family. Through this process, you will be able to increase awareness of how each family member feels, gain insight into each individual’s experience, and then explore possible solutions to your family’s current problems.

Insurance, Fees, and Scheduling

We can set up a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your expectations and any questions you may have about therapy and to see if I am the right therapist for you. If for any reason I am not, I will be happy to give you some referrals to help you find another therapist. If you’re ready to take the next step, call or email me to set up a consultation!

I am currently offering in-person sessions with evening and weekend availability. To schedule an appointment or to get more information call 480-568-2229, email, or click “Schedule Now” in the upper right-hand corner of this page.

I accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna insurance or self-pay (cash or card). My fees without insurance are $60 for a 50-minute session or we can work on a sliding fee scale if needed.
