Couples Therapy
Couples often get stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, frustration, hurt, and resentment. Tammy will work with both partners to unwind tangled communication and work to develop positive experiences that reflect your honest desires and values. She will help you look at patterns that are transmitted from previous generations and help to break the cycles of pain or blame. Tammy knows that sexual and emotional intimacy are a key component to a fulfilling relationship. This aspect of marriage, or long-term relationships, can be confusing and difficult to talk about. However, if the couple is willing to grow and work, great changes can be achieved in this area. Couples can find hope and healing from pain and suffering. Tammy will work together with you to practice open and honest communication that honors everyone’s unique traits and fosters a deeper sense of self.
Individual Therapy
Tammy brings many years of life experience as a woman, wife, and mother into her clinical work. She understands the pressures and challenges that are often pushed aside as we navigate the many roles that we play in life. Tammy uses science-based methods and tools to help you gain an understanding of why you think or feel the way you do in various circumstances. By establishing greater clarity about the context of our lives, we can develop skills that help us blaze a new path of freedom and action. We become the authors of our own experience and are able to write our own story. Tammy can help you find yourself amidst the chaos that surrounds you, helping you to stand firm and on solid ground, despite the negative winds that may try to push you down.
Working with Children and Teens
Tammy loves working with adolescent and preadolescent youth. This time is full of new experiences that challenge young people to grow and decide what they want out of life. This can be a confusing and challenging time, navigating personal values alongside the social pressures that may come from family, friends, and community. Tammy is ready to help clients identify and work through the chaos of emotions and pressures while identifying strengths and developing emotional resilience that can last a lifetime.
Working with Older Adults
Older adults may be apprehensive about speaking with a counselor. However, this time of life comes with many changes, often forcing us to learn new roles and new norms.
