Anna McCreadie

Anna McCreadie

Anna believes in the transformative power of shared connection and is passionate about empowering you to heal from within. Anna received her bachelor’s degree in psychology and her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Santa Clara University where she also played Division I volleyball.

Children and Adolescents

Anna has experience and training in working with children and adolescents. Her experience working in schools as both an educator and a counselor has given her the opportunity to support children and families during difficult times.

Watching your child struggle can be frustrating and disheartening. It can be difficult to know what is developmentally appropriate for children and when they need additional support. Anna treats children ages 6+ struggling with emotional outbursts, separation anxiety, trauma, sleep difficulty, ADHD, compulsiveness, aggressive behavior, school adjustment, and more. Her training and experience with children helps her to connect with kids while partnering with parents to work toward emotion identification and regulation, impulse control, improving sibling relationships, and more. She believes that each child needs an individualized assessment and treatment plan to best address their needs and behaviors and that there is no one-size-fits-all approach.

Parenting a teenager in this world of instant gratification, social media, and constant noise can feel overwhelming. Teens commonly struggle with low self-esteem, mood swings, anger, defiance, anxiety, feelings of sadness, lack of motivation, questions about sexuality and identity, difficulty with friends, stress at school, and the list goes on. They can be hesitant to open up to their parents and ask for help, feeling isolated and alone when they most need someone to talk to. Anna connects well with youth and is passionate about providing a space where teens can feel seen and heard while also partnering with concerned parents. She helps teens learn how to navigate peer relationships that may be confusing and painful. She works with them to increase their positive self-talk, improve their self-image, identify their strengths, and develop rational thinking skills to assist in emotional regulation and impulse control. Anna can help you and your child navigate stress, anxiety, depression, disruptive or defiant behavior, issues of identity, school refusal, and more. She connects well with youth and enjoys partnering with parents to support growth and positive change.

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns and it can be easy to lose sight of who you are and what you want, getting caught up in the noise, feeling overwhelmed, unsettled, anxious, or alone. You deserve a space to feel safe, seen, and heard where you can explore your desires and reconnect with yourself. Anna sees your unique strengths and values and collaborates with you to learn new skills, process trauma, find grounding, and experience self-compassion as you progress on your journey of healing, growth, and discovery. Anna understands that beginning counseling can be daunting and she offers a safe, confidential, and comfortable environment where individuals can bring their whole selves without fear of judgment. Anna sees each person’s unique strengths and values and collaborates with them to heal toward wholeness. Her approach is influenced by mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, positive psychology, somatic psychology, and systems thinking.

Couples Counseling

Relationships can be the source of our greatest joys and our deepest pains. At times we may feel stuck in the same pattern, unable to break free from the cycle of conflict to reconnect with our partner. Where there once was love and trust, there may be distance and disconnectiion. Anna helps couples identify and heal their patterns by learning new ways to communicate, resolve conflict, rebuild trust, and strengthen both emotional and sexual intimacy. She uses an emotion-focused and Gottman-informed approach to help couples see where they get stuck, understand one another better, and transform their conflict into connection. She also offers pre-marital counseling to couples who desire to build communication skills, discover more about each other, and actively plan for the future.
