In light of all of the events that have happened this last year, it can sometimes feel like our current world is filled with so much hate. As 2022 comes to a close, we, the Arizona Center for Marriage and Family Therapy, want to challenge you all to spend these last couple of months and this holiday season choosing to be grateful, not hateful.
Being grateful goes beyond just feeling gratitude as choosing to be grateful is choosing to have joy, choosing to be understanding, and choosing to see good in the world around you. Having gratitude is not just a feeling, it is an orientation towards the world and your experiences in it which you approach yourself and others with empathy and mindfulness. As such, choosing gratitude can have a profound impact on you, your relationships, and the world around you. Inspired by a recent blog post, below are some additional reasons why you should choose gratitude this holiday.
Your whole perspective changes.
You are able to focus on others.
You gain contentment.
It takes your focus off of your circumstances.
It puts you in a better mood.
It makes you more resilient when difficult things happen.
Increases your productivity.
It helps your sleep.
It benefits your health.
You gain a greater sense of what is important to you.
